Signs of Cold Stress in Pearl millet
Symptoms
Pearl millet tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 77℉. In colder months, it should be maintained above 68℉. If temperatures drop below 50℉, while no immediate winter changes might be apparent, reduced or absent sprouting could occur in spring.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that have not sprouted.
Signs of Heat Stress in Pearl millet
Symptoms
During warmer periods, Pearl millet should be kept below 86℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, the plant's foliage might lighten, curl, become prone to sun damage, and in severe instances, the whole plant could wilt and desiccate.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and dried portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or provide shade with a cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
