Signs of Cold Stress in Chinese mustard
Symptoms
Chinese mustard tolerates cool temperatures moderately well, flourishing optimally between 60℉ and 75℉. In colder months, temperatures should remain above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, foliage may darken. Extreme cold can lead to water-soaked tissue death, wilting, drooping, and a gradual browning of leaves.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm area or construct a temporary greenhouse for protection from cold. When indoors, position it near a south-facing window for adequate light. If natural light is insufficient, provide additional illumination.
Signs of Heat Stress in Chinese mustard
Symptoms
In summer, Chinese mustard should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, plant development slows, leaf color fades, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and desiccated. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the afternoon sun. Water the plant during the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
