Signs of Cold Stress in Beet
Symptoms
Beet tolerates cool temperatures moderately well, flourishing optimally between 60℉ and 70℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. Below 40℉, foliage may darken. Severe cases can lead to water-soaked decay, wilting, drooping, and a gradual browning of leaves.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Promptly relocate indoors to a warm spot or construct a temporary greenhouse for protection from cold. When indoors, position near a south-facing window for ample light. Supplement with artificial lighting if natural light is inadequate.
Signs of Heat Stress in Beet
Symptoms
In summer, Beet should be maintained below 70℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, plant development slows, leaf coloration fades, and susceptibility to sun damage increases.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and desiccated. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the afternoon sun. Water the plant during the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
