Signs of Cold Stress in Garlic
Symptoms
Garlic exhibits moderate resilience to cold and flourishes optimally within a temperature range of 60℉ to 70℉. In winter, temperatures should not drop below 50℉. If the temperature falls below 40℉, foliage may darken. Extreme cases can lead to water-soaked tissue death, wilting, drooping, and a gradual browning of the leaves.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm setting or construct a temporary greenhouse for cold defense. When indoors, position the plant near a south-facing window for abundant sunlight. If light is inadequate, supplementary lighting can be utilized.
Signs of Heat Stress in Garlic
Symptoms
In summer, Garlic should be maintained below 70℉. When temperatures surpass 80℉, plant development slows, leaf coloration lightens, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and desiccated. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the afternoon sun. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
