Stump fairy helmet
Mycena alcalina
A species of Bonnets.
The cap of *Mycena alcalina* varies in form from conical to campanulate and typically measures between 1 and 4 cm across. A slender, hollow stalk, which can be anywhere from 20 to 65 mm in length, supports this cap. Initially, the cap presents as black, gradually lightening to a grey-brown hue at its periphery, while the stem generally mirrors the cap's coloration. The internal tissue of *Mycena alcalina* is delicate, thin, and ranges from white to translucent. Although this mushroom species is safe for consumption, its somewhat pungent taste and strong, bleach-like smell render it unappealing for culinary purposes.
