Blewit

Lepista nuda

A species of Blewits.

The blewit mushroom, a fungus found amongst decaying autumn and winter foliage, occasionally forms circular patterns known as fairy rings. When finely chopped and boiled in an iron pot, it yields a green dye. Its scientific designation, Lepista nuda, is rooted in Latin terms that describe the mushroom's bare goblet like form and consistency.
