Splash-cup bird's-nest
Cyathus stercoreus
A species of Cyathus. Also known as Dung bird's nest, Splash cups.
True to its name, the splash-cup bird's-nest fungus (Cyathus stercoreus) flourishes on animal droppings or organic debris, producing vast clusters of uniquely shaped fruiting bodies. Each cap curves upward, forming a structure reminiscent of a bird's nest, complete with small, egg-like structures inside. These miniature nests are quite small, reaching a maximum diameter of only 1 centimeter!
