Fragrant funnel
Clitocybe fragrans
A species of Funnels.
This dainty fungus, a small white mushroom, thrives in the leaf litter of deciduous forests. You might also spot it emerging near roads, beneath hedgerows, or in open green spaces like parks and lawns. Although numerous tiny white mushrooms inhabit these areas, the fragrant funnel is uniquely identifiable by its sweet, anise-like aroma. Interestingly, despite its pleasant scent, it is considered toxic.
