Chlorophyllum rachodes
Chlorophyllum rachodes
A species of Chlorophyllum.
The shaggy parasol is a prominent and sizable mushroom. It has a robust, white cap adorned with substantial brown scales and bumps. Both its gills and spore print are white. The stem is thin, yet swells at the bottom, presenting a uniform color and lacking any distinct patterns. When sliced, its flesh emits a strong smell and turns reddish or maroon. The caps, initially egg-shaped, broaden and flatten with age. The stem of C. rhacodes typically reaches a height of 10 to 20 cm (4 to 8 in) and a diameter of 1 to 2 cm, while the cap spans 7.5 to 20 cm (3.0 to 7.9 in).
