Royal fly agaric

Amanita regalis

A species of Amanita mushrooms. Also known as Brown fly agaric.

The regal fly agaric, a close relative of the well-known red fly agaric, shares its toxic properties. However, it's considerably rarer, with the exception of Scandinavian regions. In 2000, the German Mycological Society honored the regal fly agaric as their Mushroom of the Year. This fungus forms a symbiotic relationship with various coniferous trees.
