Yeah. The vine it was attached to was dead, not sure what happened.

It's not uncommon for vines to perish, often due to a lack of sunlight caused by an overgrown canopy, or disease. Some vines are also annuals, completing their life cycle within a single growing season. Deciduous vines shed their leaves in fall, appearing dead, but will regrow in spring.
