To achieve a large, bushy mum plant, strategic pinching is key. When your mum is about 6 inches tall, pinch off the top inch of each stem, just above a leaf node. This encourages branching. Repeat this process every few weeks until early July, or even mid-July in warmer climates. Adequate sunlight (at least 6 hours daily), consistent moisture, and a balanced fertilizer will also support vigorous, full growth.
