Signs of Cold Stress in Shiranji-tea
Symptoms
Shiranji-tea thrives in warmth and cannot withstand cold. Optimal growth occurs above 60℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. Below 40℉, leaves may lose color. After frost, they progressively turn brown or black, potentially leading to wilting and drooping.
Solutions
Remove frost-damaged sections. Relocate the plant indoors to a warm area for protection. Position it near a south-facing window for sufficient light. Avoid placing it near heaters or AC vents to prevent air from becoming too dry.
Signs of Heat Stress in Shiranji-tea
Symptoms
In summer, Shiranji-tea should be kept below 86℉. Temperatures above 95℉ cause leaves to lighten and increase susceptibility to sunburn.
Solutions
Remove any sunburned or dried areas. Move the plant to a shaded spot during peak sun hours. Water in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
