Signs of Cold Stress in Broad bean
Symptoms
Broad bean tolerates cool temperatures moderately, flourishing optimally between 60℉ and 70℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. Below 40℉, foliage may darken. Severe cases show water-soaked decay, wilting, drooping, and leaves gradually turning brown.
Solutions
Remove frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate indoors to a warm spot or construct a temporary greenhouse for cold defense. Indoors, position near a south-facing window for ample light. Supplement light if natural illumination is inadequate.
Signs of Heat Stress in Broad bean
Symptoms
In summer, Broad bean should remain below 70℉. When temperatures surpass 75℉, growth slows, leaf color fades, and susceptibility to sunburn increases.
Solutions
Prune off sun-scorched and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to an area offering afternoon shade. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
