Signs of Cold Temperatures in Valerian
Symptoms
Valerian tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 59℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 41℉, while winter might show no immediate effects, spring could see reduced or absent sprouting.
Solutions
In springtime, remove any sections that have not sprouted.
Signs of High Temperatures in Valerian
Symptoms
In summer, Valerian should be maintained below 77℉. When temperatures surpass 86℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in hue, tend to curl, become prone to sun damage, and in severe instances, the whole plant could wilt and desiccate.
Solutions
Cut off any sun-damaged and dried-out portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
