Signs of Cold Temperatures in Poison sumac
Symptoms
Poison sumac tolerates cold well and grows best when temperatures are above 70℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 60℉. If temperatures drop below 50℉, even if no immediate changes are seen in winter, branches might become brittle and dry in spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new leaves.
Signs of High Temperatures in Poison sumac
Symptoms
In summer, Poison sumac should be kept below 85℉. When temperatures go above 95℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in color, their tips could dry and wither, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Cut off any sunburned and dried sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
