Signs of Cold Temperatures in California nutmeg
Symptoms
California nutmeg tolerates cold well and flourishes best when temperatures are above 50℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 40℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, even if no immediate changes are seen in winter, branches might become brittle and dry in spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of High Temperatures in California nutmeg
Symptoms
In summer, California nutmeg should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures go above 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in color, their tips could dry and wither, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
