Signs of Cold Stress in Rice-paper plant
Symptoms
Rice-paper plant exhibits moderate resilience to cold and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. Should the temperature drop below 40℉, foliage may begin to sag. Minor instances allow recovery, but severe cases lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before subsequent exposure to low temperatures, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and erect a windbreak to shield it from cold drafts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Rice-paper plant
Symptoms
In summer, Rice-paper plant should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, leaf coloration lightens, leaf tips might become dry and shriveled, leaves may curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sunburnt and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or employ a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
