Signs of Cold Stress in Eggplant
Symptoms
Eggplant tolerates cold moderately well, flourishing optimally between 75℉ and 85℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 65℉. Below 55℉, leaves may darken. Severe cases show water-soaked necrosis, wilting, drooping, and browning leaves.
Solutions
Remove frost-damaged sections. Relocate indoors to a warm spot or create a temporary greenhouse for protection. Indoors, position near a south-facing window for ample light. Supplement with artificial lighting if natural light is inadequate.
Signs of Heat Stress in Eggplant
Symptoms
In summer, Eggplant should remain below 85℉. Above 95℉, growth slows, leaves lighten, and sunburn risk increases.
Solutions
Prune off sun-scorched and desiccated areas. Move the plant to a spot shaded from the afternoon sun. Water in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
