Signs of Cold Stress in Common houseleek
Symptoms
Common houseleek does not tolerate extremely low temperatures well. It flourishes optimally when temperatures range from 65℉ to 75℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 60℉. If the temperature drops below 20℉, its leaves will show water-soaked decay and droop. For minor frost damage, initial signs might be absent, but within a week, leaves will severely wilt and eventually detach.
Solutions
Cut away the frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm spot or construct a temporary greenhouse for thermal protection. If moving indoors, select a south-facing window for sufficient light. If using a makeshift greenhouse, ensure good air circulation to prevent plant deterioration from stagnant air.
Signs of Heat Stress in Common houseleek
Symptoms
In summer, Common houseleek should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant will enter dormancy, and it becomes more susceptible to rot in humid conditions.
Solutions
Prune off any dry or decayed portions. Relocate the plant to a semi-shaded location, shielding it from direct sun exposure during midday and afternoon. Cease watering the plant until cooler weather returns.
