Signs of Cold Stress in Pallas
Symptoms
Pallas flourishes in warm conditions and cannot withstand cold. Optimal growth occurs when temperatures exceed 50℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 41℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, the plant may weaken, droop, and become susceptible to root decay. Minor frost damage might not show immediate signs, but the plant will gradually decline over a week.
Solutions
Remove frost-damaged sections, checking for root rot. If roots are rotted, trim them and propagate new plants from cuttings. Relocate the plant indoors to a warm spot immediately, positioning it near a south-facing window for ample light. Provide supplementary lighting if natural light is insufficient.
Signs of Heat Stress in Pallas
Symptoms
In summer, Pallas should be kept below 68℉. When temperatures surpass 77℉, the plant will stop growing, dehydrate, wilt, and be more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sunburnt or decayed portions. Protect the plant from intense afternoon sun until it recovers and resumes growth. For plants with root decay, cease watering until new roots develop.
