Signs of Cold Stress in Ring-cupped oak
Symptoms
Ring-cupped oak tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 50℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 41℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, while no immediate changes might be apparent in winter, branches could become brittle and dry by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
During spring, remove any lifeless branches that haven't produced fresh foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Ring-cupped oak
Symptoms
In summer, Ring-cupped oak should be maintained below 77℉. When temperatures surpass 86℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in hue, their tips could dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove the sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade fabric to provide cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
