Signs of Cold Stress in Pomegranate
Symptoms
Pomegranate tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures exceed 68℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 55℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while no immediate winter changes may be apparent, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that have not produced new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Pomegranate
Symptoms
During summer, Pomegranate should be maintained below 86℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, the plant's leaves may lighten in hue, their tips may dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
