Signs of Cold Stress in Black cherry
Symptoms
Black cherry tolerates cold well and flourishes best when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 40℉. If temperatures drop below 20℉, while winter changes might not be obvious, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Black cherry
Symptoms
In summer, Black cherry should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in color, their tips could dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
