Signs of Cold Temperatures in Bird cherry
Symptoms
Bird cherry tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures exceed 59℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while no immediate winter changes may be apparent, branches can become brittle and dry in spring, with no new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of High Temperatures in Bird cherry
Symptoms
In summer, Bird cherry should be kept below 77℉. When temperatures go above 86℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, tips may dry and shrivel, and it becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and dried sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
