Signs of Cold Temperatures in Japanese apricot
Symptoms
Japanese apricot tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 59℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, while no immediate winter changes might be apparent, branches can become fragile and dry by spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any lifeless branches that haven't produced fresh foliage.
Signs of Warm Temperatures in Japanese apricot
Symptoms
During summer, Japanese apricot should be maintained below 72℉. When temperatures surpass 86℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in hue, their tips could dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off the sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade fabric to provide cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
