Ideal Temperature for Almond
Signs of Cold Stress in Almond
Symptoms
Almond tolerates cold well and flourishes best when temperatures exceed 68℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while no immediate winter changes might be seen, branches can become brittle and dry in spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
Remove any dead branches in spring that did not produce new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Almond
Symptoms
In summer, Almond should be maintained below 86℉. When temperatures surpass 104℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in hue, their tips could dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off any sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
