Signs of Cold Stress in Apricot
Symptoms
Apricot tolerates cold well and grows optimally above 68℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while no immediate winter damage may be apparent, branches can become brittle and dry in spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Apricot
Symptoms
During summer, Apricot should be maintained below 77℉. When temperatures exceed 86℉, the plant's leaves may lighten in color, their tips may dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and dried sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
