Signs of Cold Stress in Big-tooth aspen
Symptoms
Big-tooth aspen tolerates cold well and flourishes best when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, while winter might show no immediate effects, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
During spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Big-tooth aspen
Symptoms
In summer, Big-tooth aspen should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in hue, their tips could dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
