Signs of Cold Stress in German bamboo
Symptoms
German bamboo favors warm conditions and cannot withstand cold. It flourishes best when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 59℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, foliage may lose some color. Following frost damage, leaves progressively turn brown or black, and signs like wilting and drooping might appear.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm setting for protection from cold. Position the plant near a south-facing window to ensure sufficient light. Furthermore, avoid placing it near heating units or AC vents to prevent overly dry air.
Signs of Heat Stress in German bamboo
Symptoms
In summer, German bamboo should be kept below 77℉. When temperatures surpass 86℉, leaf coloration lightens, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Transfer the plant to an area that offers protection from the intense midday and afternoon sun. Water the plant during the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
