Signs of Cold Stress in Buddhist pine
Symptoms
Buddhist pine tolerates cool temperatures moderately well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, its foliage might begin to sag. Minor cases can lead to recovery, but severe instances will cause leaves to wither and ultimately shed.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before subsequent exposure to low temperatures, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from cold gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Buddhist pine
Symptoms
In summer, Buddhist pine should be kept below 77℉. When temperatures rise above 86℉, the leaves' color fades, their tips might become dry and shriveled, they may curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth to provide cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
