Signs of Cold Stress in Elkhorn fern
Symptoms
Elkhorn fern favors warm conditions and cannot withstand cold. It flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, it must be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 45℉, foliage may lose some color. Following frost damage, leaves progressively turn brown or black, and signs like wilting and drooping might appear.
Solutions
Remove any frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate indoors to a warm setting for protection from cold. Select a location near a south-facing window for the plant, ensuring sufficient light. Furthermore, avoid placing it near heating units or AC vents to prevent overly dry air.
Signs of Heat Stress in Elkhorn fern
Symptoms
In summer, Elkhorn fern should be kept below 80℉. When temperatures surpass 100℉, leaf coloration lightens, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sunburned and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to an area offering shade from the midday and afternoon sun. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
