Signs of Cold Stress in Chinese pine
Symptoms
Chinese pine exhibits strong cold resistance, but winter temperatures should remain above 5℉. If temperatures fall below this point, while no immediate changes might be apparent in winter, branches can become fragile and dry in spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
During spring, remove any dead branches that have not developed new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Chinese pine
Symptoms
Chinese pine does not thrive in high heat. When temperatures surpass 68℉, it may shed a large number of leaves, and in extreme cases, the whole plant could wilt and perish.
Solutions
Cut off any sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or employ a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
