Signs of Cold Stress in Pokeweed
Symptoms
Pokeweed tolerates cold well and flourishes when temperatures are above 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while no immediate winter changes might be seen, spring sprouting could be reduced or absent.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that did not sprout.
Signs of Heat Stress in Pokeweed
Symptoms
In summer, Pokeweed should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, curl, be prone to sunburn, and in severe instances, the whole plant may wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
