Signs of Cold Stress in Heartleaf philodendron
Symptoms
Heartleaf philodendron favors warm conditions and cannot withstand low temperatures. It flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 55℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, its leaves might lose some color. Following frost damage, the foliage progressively turns brown or black, and signs like wilting and drooping can appear.
Solutions
Remove the parts affected by frost. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm setting for protection against cold. Select a location near a south-facing window for the plant, ensuring plenty of light. Furthermore, avoid positioning the plant close to heating units or AC vents to prevent overly dry air.
Signs of Heat Stress in Heartleaf philodendron
Symptoms
In summer, Heartleaf philodendron should be kept below 78℉. When temperatures go above 85℉, the leaves' hue becomes paler, and the plant is more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off the parts that are sunburned and dried out. Relocate the plant to an area that offers shade from the midday and afternoon sun. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
