Signs of Cold Stress in Oriental poppy
Symptoms
Oriental poppy tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 55℉. If temperatures drop below 40℉, while winter changes might not be obvious, spring may see reduced or absent sprouting.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that have not sprouted.
Signs of Heat Stress in Oriental poppy
Symptoms
During summer, Oriental poppy should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 80℉, the plant's foliage might lighten, curl easily, suffer from sunburn, and in severe instances, the whole plant could wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and desiccated. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
