Signs of Cold Stress in Holy basil
Symptoms
Holy basil favors warm conditions and cannot withstand cold. It flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 70℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 60℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, foliage may lose some color. Following frost damage, leaves progressively turn brown or black, and signs like wilting and drooping might appear.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm setting for protection from cold. Position the plant near a south-facing window to ensure sufficient light. Furthermore, avoid placing it near heating units or AC vents to prevent overly dry air.
Signs of Heat Stress in Holy basil
Symptoms
In summer, Holy basil should be maintained below 85℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, leaf coloration fades, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Remove any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun. Hydrate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
