Signs of Cold Stress in Paperwhite narcissus
Symptoms
Paperwhite narcissus tolerates cool temperatures moderately well and flourishes best when temperatures exceed 50℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 45℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, foliage may begin to sag. Mild cases can recover, but severe cases lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before further cold exposure, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from cold gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Paperwhite narcissus
Symptoms
In summer, Paperwhite narcissus should be kept below 65℉. When temperatures surpass 75℉, leaves lighten in color, tips may dry and shrivel, foliage might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Cut off any sunburned and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
