Symptoms
Bitter melon tolerates cool conditions moderately well, flourishing optimally between 77℉ and 86℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 68℉. Below 50℉, foliage may darken. Severe cases can lead to water-soaked tissue death, wilting, drooping, and a gradual browning of leaves.
Solutions
Remove frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate indoors to a warm spot or construct a temporary greenhouse for protection. When indoors, position near a south-facing window for ample light. Supplement with artificial lighting if natural light is insufficient.
Signs of Heat Stress in Bitter melon
Symptoms
In summer, Bitter melon should be maintained below 86℉. Temperatures exceeding 95℉ will slow plant development, lighten leaf color, and increase susceptibility to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove sun-scorched and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to an area offering afternoon shade. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
