Signs of Cold Stress in Cassava
Symptoms
Cassava thrives in warmth and cannot withstand cold. Optimal growth occurs when temperatures exceed 75℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 60℉. If temperatures drop below 50℉, leaves may lose their vibrant color. Following frost damage, leaves progressively turn brown or black, exhibiting wilting and drooping.
Solutions
Remove any frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm area for protection. Position it near a south-facing window to ensure sufficient light. Furthermore, avoid placing it near heating units or AC vents to prevent overly dry air.
Signs of Heat Stress in Cassava
Symptoms
In summer, Cassava should be maintained below 90℉. When temperatures surpass 100℉, leaves lighten in hue, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated portions. Transfer the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
