Signs of Cold Stress in Chilean myrtle
Symptoms
Chilean myrtle tolerates cold moderately and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, foliage may begin to sag. Mild cases can recover, but severe cases lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove frost-damaged sections. Before subsequent cold exposure, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from cold gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Chilean myrtle
Symptoms
In summer, Chilean myrtle should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, leaves lighten in color, tips may dry and shrivel, leaves might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Prune off any sunburned and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
