Signs of Cold Stress in Spike lavender
Symptoms
Spike lavender tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 55℉. If temperatures drop below 50℉, while no immediate winter changes may be apparent, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that have not produced new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Spike lavender
Symptoms
During summer, Spike lavender should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves may lighten in hue, the tips might dry and shrivel, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or deploy a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to ensure soil moisture.
