Signs of Cold Stress in European larch
Symptoms
European larch exhibits exceptional cold hardiness, but winter temperatures should remain above -22℉. Should the temperature fall below this point, while no immediate changes might be apparent in winter, branches could become fragile and desiccated by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
During spring, remove any lifeless branches that have not developed fresh foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in European larch
Symptoms
European larch does not tolerate elevated temperatures well. When temperatures surpass 60℉, it may shed a considerable number of leaves, and in extreme instances, the entire plant could wilt and perish.
Solutions
Remove any sun-scorched and dried sections. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or employ a shade cloth for cover. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
