Signs of Cold Stress in Florist kalanchoe
Symptoms
Florist kalanchoe cannot withstand extremely low temperatures. It flourishes optimally when temperatures range from 60℉ to 75℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. Should the temperature drop below 40℉, its foliage will show water-soaked damage and droop. With minor frost exposure, initial signs might be absent, but within a week, leaves will severely wilt and eventually detach.
Solutions
Prune away any frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm setting or construct a temporary greenhouse for thermal defense. If moving indoors, position it near a south-facing window for sufficient light. When using a makeshift greenhouse, ensure good air circulation to prevent rot from inadequate ventilation.
Signs of Heat Stress in Florist kalanchoe
Symptoms
In summer, Florist kalanchoe should be kept below 75℉. If temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant will enter dormancy, and its susceptibility to rot increases in humid conditions.
Solutions
Discard any dry or decayed portions. Transfer the plant to a spot with partial shade, shielding it from direct sun during midday and afternoon. Cease watering until cooler weather returns.
