Signs of Cold Stress in Water spinach
Symptoms
Water spinach tolerates cool temperatures moderately well, flourishing optimally between 77℉ and 95℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 68℉. If temperatures drop below 59℉, leaves might darken. Severe cases can lead to water-soaked necrosis, wilting, drooping, and a gradual browning of the foliage.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm area or construct a temporary greenhouse for protection against cold. When indoors, position it near a south-facing window for adequate sunlight. If light is insufficient, consider using artificial grow lights.
Signs of Heat Stress in Water spinach
Symptoms
In summer, Water spinach should be kept below 95℉. When temperatures surpass 104℉, plant growth decelerates, leaf color fades, and susceptibility to sunburn increases.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched or desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering shade from the afternoon sun. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
