Signs of Cold Stress in Garden balsam
Symptoms
Garden balsam tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 70℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 60℉. If temperatures drop below 50℉, while winter effects might not be obvious, spring may see reduced or absent sprouting.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that did not sprout.
Signs of Heat Stress in Garden balsam
Symptoms
In summer, Garden balsam should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, curl, become prone to sunburn, and in severe instances, the whole plant could wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
