Signs of Cold Stress in Long-stalk holly
Symptoms
Long-stalk holly tolerates cold moderately and flourishes best when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 30℉, leaves might sag. Mild cases can recover, but severe cases lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove frost-damaged sections. Before further cold exposure, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from cold gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Long-stalk holly
Symptoms
In summer, Long-stalk holly should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, leaf color fades, tips may dry and shrivel, leaves might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Prune off sun-scorched and desiccated areas. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
