Signs of Cold Stress in Bredasdorp gasteria
Symptoms
Bredasdorp gasteria cannot withstand extremely low temperatures. It flourishes optimally when temperatures range from 60℉ to 77℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. Should the temperature drop below 32℉, its leaves will show waterlogged decay and droop. For minor frost damage, initial signs might be absent, but within a week, leaves will severely wilt and eventually detach.
Solutions
Cut away the frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate indoors to a warm spot or construct a temporary greenhouse for cold defense. When bringing the plant inside, select a south-facing window for sufficient light. If using a makeshift greenhouse, ensure proper air circulation to prevent plant deterioration from inadequate ventilation.
Signs of Heat Stress in Bredasdorp gasteria
Symptoms
In summer, Bredasdorp gasteria must be kept below 77℉. If temperatures surpass 86℉, the plant will enter dormancy, becoming more susceptible to rot in humid conditions.
Solutions
Discard any dry and decayed portions. Transfer the plant to a shaded location, shielding it from direct sun exposure during midday and afternoon. Cease watering until the weather cools down.
