Signs of Cold Stress in Centipedegrass
Symptoms
Centipedegrass tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 68℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 59℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, while no immediate winter changes might be apparent, reduced or absent sprouting could occur in spring.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that have not sprouted.
Signs of Heat Stress in Centipedegrass
Symptoms
In summer, Centipedegrass should be maintained below 77℉. When temperatures surpass 86℉, the plant's foliage might lighten, curl easily, suffer from sunburn, and in severe instances, the whole plant could wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
