Signs of Cold Stress in Fireweed
Symptoms
Fireweed exhibits exceptional cold hardiness, but winter temperatures should remain above 32℉. Should the temperature fall below this point, while no immediate changes might be apparent in winter, a reduction in or complete absence of spring sprouting could occur.
Solutions
During spring, remove any sections that have not successfully sprouted.
Signs of Heat Stress in Fireweed
Symptoms
Fireweed does not tolerate elevated temperatures well. When temperatures surpass 70℉, its development ceases, and it becomes more prone to decay.
Solutions
Cut off any parts that are scorched and dried. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or employ a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
